Kandharappam Recipe is special sweet offered to Lord Murugan mainly on the festival days like Vaikasi Visakam, Karthigai Deepam, Thai Poosam etc.  Being little bit sweet, it will be a real treat for sweet lovers. It is a traditional sweet from the Chettinad cuisine prepared with rice and a mixture of dals.

    1. Wash and soak the 1 cup raw rice, 3 tablespoon urud dal and 1 teaspoon Thillai’s Fenugreek together for 2 hours.
    2. Drain the water and add the rice, urud dal and fenugreek to the blender jar, to this add ½ Cup grated Coconut, 1 Cup jaggery powdered and little water and grind to a smooth dosa batter consistency. Add ½ teaspoon Crushed Thillai’s Cardamom and mix well.
    3. Allow the batter to ferment for atleast 1/2 -1 hour.
    4. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
    5. Now take a ladle full of the batter and gently pour it into the oil. Cook in slow flame until you get light golden colour. Flip and cook the other side too.
    6. Drain the excess oil from the appam with a tissue paper.
    7. Serve hot.
