Rajma Recipe

Rajma recipe are also known as rajma masala. Rajma is one of the most popular dishes in north indian. The rajma chawal combo makes for a filling, heathy and a comforting meal. Serve rajma with steamed basmati rice or jeera rice or naan or roti or paratha.

For Soak

  • 1 Cup Rajma (Kidney Beans)
  • Water as required

For Pressure Cook

  • 1 Cup Rajma (Kidney Beans)
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 Black Cardamom
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 4 cup water

For Rajma

Preparation Method

    1. Soak 1 cup rajma (kidney beans) with enough water in a bowl for 8 hours. Drain well.
    2. Combine the rajma with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 bay leaf, 1 black cardamom and 2 cup of water, mix well and cook in the pressure cooker for 3 whistles.
    3. Heat large pan with 1 tablespoon ghee and saute 1 teaspoon Thillai’s Cumin, 1 inch cinnamon and 5 Thillai’s Clove.
    4. Add 1 onion, 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1 chilli and saute well until the onions turn golden brown.
    5. Now add 2 cup tomato pulp. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, or until the oil is separated.
    6. Further keeping the flame on low add ¼ teaspoon Thillai’s Erode Turmeric Powder, 1 teaspoon Thillai’s Kashmiri Chilli Powder, 1 teaspoon Thillai’s Nattu Malli Coriander Powder, ½ teaspoon Thillai’s Ujha Cumin Powder, ½ teaspoon dry mango powder, ½ teaspoon Thillai’s Garam Masala
    7. Saute well until the spices turn aromatic. Add cooked rajma and mix well.
    8. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until the curry thickens.
    9. Now add 1 teaspoon kasuri methi, 2 tablespoon coriander leaves and mix well.
    10. Now delicious and yummy hot rajma recipe is ready to serve.
